In October 2022, the South Goa District Mineral Foundation (SGDMF) procured three ambulances to enhance emergency medical support in mining-affected areas. These ambulances have been deployed at Primary Health Center (PHC) Sanguem, Primary Health Center (PHC) Piliem, and Community Health Center (CHC) Curchorem. They are primarily used to refer critical patients to Goa Medical College (GMC), ensuring timely and lifesaving medical intervention. Since their deployment, the ambulances have been benefitting over 30 patients each month. As of March 2024, they have collectively assisted over 1,800 patients, significantly improving access to emergency healthcare.
This initiative reflects SGDMF’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure in remote
areas, ensuring that critical medical services are available to those in need. By investing in emergency response capabilities, SGDMF continues to play a vital role in enhancing healthcare accessibility and saving lives across South Goa.
