Mining-affected communites have faced various issues related to livelihood, socio-economic, health, drinking water etc. Realizaton of the same led to the creaton of DMF as part of benefit sharing and inclusive growth. DMF works in the interest and benefits of the persons and areas affected by mining-related actvites. As per the Act, mining companies have been notfied to deposit payments to DMFs as per notficaton by the center. The rules for functons, accountability, transparency etc. of DMFs are within the purview of state governments as per the guidelines of PMKKKY.
