Enhancing Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Response In response to frequent flooding in miningaffected areas, the South Goa District Mineral Foundation (SGDMF) sanctioned the procurement of two Quick Response Vehicles along with essential disaster management equipment for the Fire and Emergency Department. These resources, deployed across Sanguem, Quepem, and Dharbandora talukas, have significantly strengthened emergency response capabilities.
Over the past year, the quick response vehicles have played a crucial role in multiple rescue operations, ensuring timely assistance during emergencies. They were also placed on high alert during the National Games, demonstrating their importance beyond disaster management.
Additionally, life-saving boats were effectively utilized in search and rescue operations during monsoon-related incidents. The quick response vehicles and equipment also played a vital role in clearing roadblocks caused by fallen trees, ensuring uninterrupted emergency access and swift restoration of transportation routes. By enhancing the region’s disaster preparedness, these resources have proven invaluable in safeguarding lives and property, reaffirming SGDMF’s commitment to community safety and resilience in mining-affected areas.
